DESCRIPTION
Step infront of a runaway train ...
Step infront of a runaway train ...
Abundance his frame, is long, sleek, wavy fur, originating from his long line breed of Oriental Longhair. Dusty's coat is a rich chocolate hue, and bares no patches or marks, instead, it's long fluff allows this country cat seem very broad and big, but in fact, he's very slim-line and agile; as seen underneath, he's fairly skinny and long limbed, perfect for speed and agility. The major noticeable feature however, of Dusty, is his left hazed foggy eye, which, once held a gorgeous green tone is now instead, a blind husk. His blindness developed after the age of 1 moon when his father had struck him, and began rendering his orbs a milky white, representing, his permanent, and incurable condition.
In addition to his appearance, which resembles a fairly dusty chocolate, Dusty has a southern accent, and is rich with country. He sounds exactly like Rob Weithoff with his deep yet soft tone. Due to his older age, his voice seems to reflect much burden, pain, life experiences and challenges he has faced.
PERSONALITY
... just to feel alive again ...
... just to feel alive again ...
positives
✓ Dignified - Although Dusty's checkered past had mentally bruised him, it does not stop him from being at least respectful and decent of the other cats around him. He's dignified in the sense where he'll be courteous to others, and acknowledge the things they want and take them into his own paws instead.
✓ Honourable - A cat with a lot of honour on those shoulders. Though Dusty has done negative things in his past, he would not ever cheat, backstab or defraud another cat. He has decency and knows morally right from wrong in situations.
✓ Loyal - Very dependant and trustworthy, Dusty will never leave ones side in a time of need. He boasts much stubbornness and heart to his companions and comrades. Despite his disability, it does not stop Dusty from being extremely loyal to those he trusts and loves.
✓ Compassionate - Just because he's a little blunt, and sharp, rather moody, it does not mean he is not loving. Underneath the boastful southern exterior, is a major softy. He loves his family, and will do anything to protect them - except of course not as of current due to their disappearance. But he does have a heart, and more less, shows it in numerous ways without the intention.
✓ Fearless - Being blind in one eye does not stop him from being who he is. And especially, does not stop him from living his life. Dusty does not fear very much, and holds himself high and true to embracing new things, and challenging himself. After all, what is a life filled with sorrow, regrets and anguish? He personally believes that no matter what challenges you face, you can overcome them, with determination and strength.
negatives
☒ Unstable - He's done bad things. Yes, bad things. He's attacked innocent cats before in his past ventures - mainly males. His lack of trust with male cats (via his father), has led him to become quite aggressive to this gender in particular, lacking in trust. Dusty's mental stability for male cats, is not safe, and it seems, because of his dad's neglect, it's slowly begun to boil the southern cat to be a little bitter inside.
☒ Blunt - Got something that bothers him? Unable to say something to another? Well, Dusty certainly can. He couldn't care less about others feelings if it means getting his point across. Although he does have a compassionate heart, his bluntness can be very overwhelming when he wants others to know how he feels or sees something, an opinion for him, is a open means to tell every cat around, the truth, even, if it is rudely put.
☒ Quick Tempered - Rather snippy when things do not go his way, especially if he sees the logical side of things, Dusty is rather quick tempered in some situations, and can be rather aggressive, but this mainly only affects him when loved ones are around, or he cares so much. It's a conflicting part of his personality, and it only really truly shows if he's filled with that bubbling compassion he has deep inside.
☒ Stubborn - Ha! You won't get him to give up so easily. With the older cats knowledge and experiences, he's not one to just, step down. Laughing at him because he's blind or less capable? Think he can't get anywhere or do something because of this? Pfft. Nope, it won't stop him!
☒ Indolent - Dusty may know right from wrong, and is able to tell in situations certain things that are important. But he is not all that bright, his southern birth and memory is not amazing, if, at all. He uses his voice, and actions, which are the main representations of his strength over the weakness of his brains intelligence.
summary
With Dusty's rather southern accent and appearance, it makes him seem a very blunt western themed cat. A rouge loner that's only known for the bad, even though, within the depths of his thick coated heart shell, he has a soft chocolate centre. Dusty cares, but isn't really one to show it openly. He has copious amounts of loyalty to those he befriends, but prefers to keep his emotions locked away like any secret free roamer. However, he will do anything to ensure the safety of anyone that manages to get under his shell enough for him to actually care about them. Dusty is quite sharp and forceful with the things he says, and is not afraid to speak his mind if something seriously annoys him, and with that quick temper of his, it doesn't really help any situations. Unusually so, Dustwing really likes the company of Kits, and finds their youth rejuvenating to his older age, he likes to tell them stories of his fights he's encountered, and more less, passes on his wisdom regarding life, and the challenges that anyone can face. For a stern country coot, it does not stop Dusty from being a loyal, brave, and enduring companion, for any cat to endure.
HISTORY
... pushing forward through the night ...
... pushing forward through the night ...
The only compass that i need ...
Born and raised into a very, free range family, Dusty's Queen and Tom were not exactly the upkeep parents that some other lucky felines manage to have the luxury of relying on. With so many Kits in his litter, DustWing was but one of many born and bred without any compassion from their parents. Born alongside 4 brothers and 3 sisters, DustWing was but the unique individual oriental longhair, and the only one with a solid coat colour. Not really caring of the live of their offspring all too much, the Queen and Tom numerously would argue over their younglings and their upbringing. It seemed his family was broken from the start, and with the lack of luxury, many of the litter mates, alike he, learned to fend for themselves so young after their Queen's weaning. A dangerous like for the young Kits, indeed so, but the southern cats were not all too considerate of their younglings, and barely kept up with their growth.
Not everyone's stories are fantastic from the start, and Dusty was but one of many who did not have the joy and prosperities that some cats managed to have. Food was scarce, and learning to fend and hunt for yourself was but one of his many challenges with his stern uptight siblings. Even though Dusty and his brethren were still with their Queen and Tom, the siblings seemed to learn on their own quite well, well, except for Dusty; whom, was numerously bullied and cast out - why? His individuality to think more, observe more, and if not, show and display some form of intelligence compared to his brothers and sisters. His father, saw this, as a major sign of weakness. "Showing emotions, is a sheer sign of weakness." Even though young, Dusty never did expect the impact his father had on him ... physically. Striking his left eye, with utmost force of repent. It had wounded the Kit, rendering him blind, in that one eye.
His father's words scorned him, reminding him and tormenting him that, already, he seemed to be nothing but a useless creature of the earth. Such concepts, such feelings, had brewed in the weaker Oriental Longhair, and from such a young age as well, it inflicted him all the more. Not such a fantastic start in life, to embrace uncaring devoted parents. The sibling rivalry, only seemed to influence the cat all the more to better himself... to strengthen his inner weakness. To stand, his ground.
He was only 3 moons when it happened. The dark rich coal of the night and plundering rain that night never really did leave his skull, forever buried into the rich cream bone and mushy organ tissue. Both his Queen and Tom, gone. Vanished. By the time him and his siblings had investigated, the two, had gone, and not even the remains were left. There was no, real, conclusion behind his parents fate. Everything, was left in utter confusion to the remaining family, decided... to leave their homebound, with no intentions of looking back, or truly seeking the whereabouts of their parents. It was believed ... under Dusty's influence, there was no true meaning to do so, and all the siblings, decided to part ways. Not all did, however, some, stuck together, and it's known that they still are together, remaining as relative family, that of the sisters, tight as can be. The brothers, though, seemed to split, finding courage over self independence. Dusty, was no exception.
... is the one that leads me back to you ...
When he was about 5 moons, Dusty encountered a loner she-cat, an ex-Queen, whom, was now a widow. Her Tom having passed from infection, and so young as well. Her Kits, had left her, and she lived by herself embracing the hard-ships of reality, alone. Her name, was Star, a soft, albino feline, with a gentle heart. If it were not for her bravery, in approaching the straggling southern stray, then Dusty would've never had the heart to ever trust others properly. During his time by himself, Dusty had become rather cold, and aggressive to others from his history with his father, distrusting males more so over females, he had shrugged off the world around him, and for such a young cat to show such a callus nature, was unsightly. But Star had taken Dusty in rather gently, taking her time in recuperating the mentally scarred cat. She taught him how to adjust to life without his left eye. She taught him how to hunt properly, and learn the wisdom of the world, using his mind, and not his claws. It allowed the Oriental Longhair to slowly regather his trust for others, by seeing the purity that Star had.
When he'd developed up to 20 moons, Star had dithered slowly in her progression, but she still deeply cared for the straggling rogue cat. She watches over him, and so often, he visits her from time to time. He was older now, capable of fending for himself. Though still youthful in age, the southern cat was able now to encounter life's struggles for his own. But, these struggles were no problem for him now, with the strength he'd developed, and the lack of fear he hosted in his veins. He wasn't hell sent on causing pain to others, but he was damn well sure he'd not share his love and affections so easily.. only to have them wiped clean from his soul in a flash. From that point on, Dusty kept to himself, mainly roaming the world alone. Being a strong, bold, independent cat, he's quite understanding about the impacts of the world around him. Capable of handling himself better in a fight, and being a stubborn tough one at that. Never one to give up easy now, Dusty kept on his life strong to a long thirty six moons of age. Never really looking back. For, there was no real reason to.
... words just sit like empty scribbles, such empty caffeinated widows.
With so much having occurred in his life that he did not desire to look back on, from his terrible upraising, to the incompetent siblings, and lack of affection, it had the cat rather boiled inside. When you remember things, so dark, it can lead, to a life onward, of sorrows, anxiety, and serious infliction on ones mental health. 'I do not know of my siblings fates, and in all honesty, I do not want to know. Their lives, are their own now. We, are but a part of this world, and even though, it has the right to take us into it, it most certainly, can take us away too. But while all four paws touch this earth, I exist. I may not have good eyes to see, but you do not need them, especially to see the truth around you. By the way you act, friend or foes you meet. You, are the ruler of your own life, and it is you, that has the most impact. Nothing, can change the past, but, we cannot predict the future, neither. Choose a path, and follow it, eventually, you'll see daylight again.'
Dusty never thought nor desired, to ever search for his parents location. Nor, his siblings. He once bore a heart of love toward them, as any family member would, but, it seemed, he had become so overly boiled from bitterness of their unjustly actions toward him, that he need not care anymore, and never really would. Because of the lack of affection from his father, it had made Dusty very sharp against male cats, the inner feelings brewing to prevent him from ever truly trusting males - despite being a male himself. It had mega conflicting impacts with his mentality. Even after having left Star, and her positive influence, he still festered with much aggression to male cats in particular. Numerous times, he had even attacked them when growing up. And these choices, despite his actions, he deeply regretted, things that, now that he looks back on ... he had never, been proud of.
