Crowpaw [ 6 moons || female || asexual || apprentice ] "Stand alone... Where was life when it had meaning... Stand alone... Nothing's real anymore... Endless running..."
RELATIONS
[ Mother: Lilac || Father: Lark/Larkflight || Brother: Storm/Stormpaw ]
[ Mentor: TBA || Apprentice: N/A || Crush: N/A? ]
VISUAL - - Crowpaw is a young she-cat apprentice with a pelt of long thick black fur, which hides her slender and lean figure, making her appear a bit bulkier than she really is. Her coat is soft to the touch though usually covered in a thin layer of powdered earth. Her white paws are small though her claws are wickedly sharp and powerful. Her finely pointed ears are short, while her white whiskers are fairly long. She has patches of white fur on her chest and under her jaw. Her striking eyes are a pale shade of yellow and they hold an aloof gaze.
Pelt - Her double layered coat consists of long, thick fur which is as black as a crow's wing. Her fur is fluffy and soft to the touch though it isn't usually groomed properly, which is why there is a thin layer of dust and bits of earth clinging stubbornly to her fur. There are a few patches of white fur on her lower and upper chest as well as the bottom of her jaw. She also has smaller splashes of white just below and above her nose to the left side of her muzzle. Her skin, unlike her dark paw pads, is fairly sensitive and delicate, though it's usually well protected by her fur coat.
Built - Just like her clanmates, she has a slender and lean body though it's not so easily noticeable given how thick her fluffy pelt is. Her legs are a bit longer than cats in other clans around her age. Her lean well toned muscles allow her to move swiftly, though not as fast as other Hillclan felines, despite that her agility and sure footed steps can equal that of most cats. Her paws, though small, are able to carry her a great distance with each bound and can strike her opponents with skill and accuracy.
Eyes - Her pale yellow eyes are striking though rather aloof and cold, as if incapable of every showing compassion or sympathy. She tends to stare quite a bit, showing no sense of attachment to others or the given situation. The color of her eyes is very much like honey; a soft colour with beads of light shinning brightly, though they appear far from sweet and gentle. A sense of deep cunning can be felt when looking into her gaze, though due to the lack of emotion behind them, it's not easy to hold eye contact with her.
PERSONALITY - - She doesn’t usually express her feelings or emotions and finds it difficult to speak very loudly; she also isn’t able to sympathize very well or empathize with the concerns of others… She’s not affected by strong emotion and isn’t moved by stories, yet despite all that she doesn’t find it too difficult to talk about her feelings, though she avoids these conversations. She likes to get away and be alone and doesn’t want to socialize much, preferring to be alone rather than interact, though she seems to prefer having a wide circle of acquaintances and readily gets herself involved in drama. She tends to be unbiased even if it means endangering good relationships with others and her actions aren’t usually influenced by emotion and her communication is often reserved and distant. She feels that the best decision is one that can be easily changed, and she also feels that not all objective criticism is always useful. She has very good control over her desires and temptations and feels that it’s essential to try everything first paw and is always looking for opportunities. Future plans worry her more than current events.
Within the Clan - She is usually late for most events of any kind, seeming to have little sense of time, yet she can manage herself very well when involved in fast past tasks, however she isn’t one to readily help out nor does she assume responsibility; she even avoids being around any obligations when she gets the chance. She sees most objectives as being only of relative importance and often finishes things in a hurry. Within the clan, she is often the last to react to any sudden events which is usually because she likes to speculate about various options and alternatives, planning her actions in advance, before she reacts. She holds firm to the morals set by her clan. She’s most relaxed and comfortable when things are convenient and kept in order and she doesn’t welcome most surprises. She’s difficult to get excited or bored and tends not to think about destiny, fate or ways of improvement though she does contemplate the complexity of life; and when she wants to relax she prefers to isolate herself from a lot of noises and finds pleasure in taking solitary walks, yet she doesn’t spend her leisure time alone or relaxing.
Outside the Clan - She feels very uneasy when in a crowd of strangers, but tends to place herself in the center rather than the sidelines; due to this she prefers small groups to large ones. Yet when it comes to other matters outside of the clan, she tends to go with her feelings of the moment before reason and is inclined to rely more on improvising rather than careful planning; she can carry herself well even without a clear and detailed plan and doesn’t always consider the most rational approach. When caught in a difficult scenario she tends to rely more on experience rather than theoretical alternatives, which may be because she cannot easily understand new theoretical principles, though when not pressured she is more inclined to experiment than follow familiar approaches. She’s more interested in the finer points of detail rather than the main idea, which may be why she can’t easily spot a general principle behind specific occurrences; however, she knows that not everything can be analyzed. She also thinks that the process and sequence of events when searching for a solution is often more important than the solution and current situation itself; and when doing so she considers familiar approaches first before seeking out anything new. She believes that strict establishment in rules are needed in most situations. She values justice before mercy.
HABITS - - She is always very consistent in the habits that she has and isn't the type to usually change them.
Sleeping - She tends to make her nest out of moss and long grass, as well as a few flexible twigs to retain it's shape. She prefers a deep nest with a great deal of moss and feathers cushioning her sleep. She tends to dream frequently though they don't usually linger in her memories once she wakes. Her dreams are usually that of her wandering around. She sleeps tightly tucked around herself, nestled deep inside her nest, which she prefers to have as close to the entrance as possible though still hidden in the shadows.
Eating - She shows signs of preferring bird prey more than anything else though she doesn't appear to dislike other prey either. She doesn't seem too interested in prey and tends to eat very slowly. She likes to save the feathers for her nest and discards as much fur as possible. She takes small tentative bits and usually picks the larger bones out, making her seems to be a bit of a finicky eater.
ATTRIBUTES
Strengths - She is best at running down hill, being unafraid of the mounting speed and having great confidence in her ability to dodge and maneuver quickly. She has outstanding eyesight and can spot movements from a great distance away. She holds promise to becoming a formidable Warrior due to her skill in obtaining and retaining knowledge and information. She is a quick learner and is very cunning. She is sure-footed, her senses are very sharp and she has fast reactions and reflexes.
Weakness' - She isn't very fast among her clanmates and she is a bit smaller then most, making her at risk for being attacked while retreating. Despite her stubborn determination to carry on, whatever damage is dealt to her would effect her a great deal more then it normally would have since she is a bit delicate in built. She is unable to relate to others, so judging their actions could sometimes be difficult and even unpredictable. If she ever gets sick, it would effect her in a severe way.
Fears - She has yet to discover her fear.
Recovery - [3/5] Her ability to recover from an attack or a fall of any kind is fairly commendable considering her age and experience. She is able to take hits well and get right back up on her paws, ready to carry on with little to effect her. She shows promise to becoming a persistent and resilient Warrior.
Attack - [2/5] Her attacking strength is fairly weak compared to other cats her age and it may make others wonder if she can ever manage in a battle. Her attacks won't hold much power and aren't likely to be all that damaging to her foe. If she hopes to succeed in fighting she will have to find a way to make her attacks effective.
Accuracy - [4/5] Her accuracy is remarkable. She is very unlikely to miss a hit or a step and prey won't stand much of a chance; she can calculate her movements well and her paw-eye coordination is amazing. This could make up for her inferior attacking abilities and could prove to be effective while in battle.
Defense - [2/5] Her defense is almost non-existent for some reason, though it could be because of her lack of time spend with her parents; as they should have spent time playing with them to hone their developing abilities. This could be improved by experience but no one will be able to know for sure; only time could tell.
Skill - [3/5] Her skill refers to her ability to perform battle moves and execute tactics in compromising situations. Her ability in this area is average but shows promise as well, for she appears to learn quickly and has a natural knack for moves and strategizing. This could help her in dangerous scenarios or the unexpected.
Speed - [3/5] Her speed is excellent, but this is due to her heritage more than anything else; it wouldn't surprise anycat that she was from Hillclan. Though compared to those within her clan she is only average, but she contents herself with being able to keep up with others. Her endurance and agility is more commendable though, especially in tight corners.
HISTORY - - Crowpaw and her brother Stormpaw were born to a loner she-cat named Lilac when she came to join Hillclan's ranks. They had a Warrior father who was recently named Larkflight, but Lilac often felt that their true father should have always been Gale, her former mate and the brother of Larkflight. Due to her mother having no trace of clan origins and eventually leaving to return to her loner life, her clan would likely have mixed feelings about Crowpaw and her brother being among them.
Heritage - Lilac was born and raised as a loner, along with her brothers and sisters. She knew no father and only knew what her mother had taught her. As she grew older she lost her family one way or another and eventually ended up alone. She lived her life according to the teachings from her mother and always fought to survive. Than she came across a handsome and honorable tom who once lived in a group of cats. His name was Gale and the two became close and she even believed that they came to love each other. In their travels she met a few of his former clanmates, including his brother Lark, but they usually kept to themselves... until Gale disappeared during a terrible storm. Lilac went to his clan hoping they had seen him, but they hadn't. She spent days searching but couldn't find him. She had lost all hope when Lark found her and offered her a place in his clan. He told her that he would love her as his brother had loved her. Feeling desperately alone and broken-hearted she accepted his offer, hoping to seek the love and companionship she had lost. Not long after completing the clan's ritual trials for joining them, she found herself expecting kits. During her pregnancy she thought over things and reflected upon them. Lark showed general effection and devotion during all this time, but when her two kits were born she had come to a decision and she waited for the time to act upon it.
Kithood - Crow was born shortly after her brother Storm, who was named after the storm that raged above the land the day they were born. She seemed a bit smaller than average, especially in comparison to her brother, and some thought she may not last the night but she had. She, her brother and their mother managed well thanks to the current Medicine Cat and the efforts of the rest of the clan. Her mother realized that she wouldn't have been able to make it through her ordeal unless she was with the clan, but still her heart never felt at peace. Lark visited every single day, always having something to feed his mate and make her and their kits more comfortable. He seemed to pay closer attention to Storm, but he actually never got himself very involved with his kits; few realized that it was because he was actually quite shy and felt very awkward as a new father. Lilac cared for her kits but she often went out into the territories to be alone; always keeping a distance between her and her kits. When they were old enough to be weaned off milk she spoke to her mate, telling him that she could no longer live in the clan. He begged her to stay but she simply said that as much as she wished to she couldn't love him or life within the clan. When he asked her about their kits, she hesitated but simply said that she never had kits and then left. Crow and Storm had secretly witnessed this and it changed them forever.
Apprenticeship - Crowpaw was only recently given her apprentice ceremony and her mentor, but she felt little joy from it. She had been raised feeling very little love from her parents and found it difficult to be able to feel much of anything, especially when other cats are involved. She is very detached from her clanmates yet she shows potential, thanks to the teachings that her mother passed down from her own mother. She is cunning, knowledgeable and sharp but doesn't show very much motivation or concern toward clan life, she also lacks experience. She questions the actions of her clanmates and is usually off doing her own thing.
OTHER
Scent - Like her clanmates her own scent reflects that of the windswept grasses gracing the tops of the rolling hills in the moor. Yet her own unique scent is similar to the feint smell of apples; sweet and almost soothing. Yet there's also a bit of a contrasting, colder scent lingering over her black pelt, much like the scent of the chilled night breeze of leaf-fall; perhaps this is due to her being apart from others and seeking cold secluded places to be alone with her thoughts.
Voice - Her voice is almost always feint and quiet, like a whispering breeze. It's usually monotone and lacking emotion; instead sounding much like 'the voice of reason'... calm, collective, yet a bit cruel and harsh. Her voice seems to send a chill and sounds almost ghostly, with each word whispered in such a detached and distant manner. It is rare that she can be heard in any other way but if pushed to the extreme even she can raise her voice with true emotions and meaning behind her words.
Note - This is the first time I made a character with random factors. I used various tests to determine gender, name and personality, so I apologize if the biography seems a bit erratic.
SAMPLE
A small sigh escaped a black and white muzzle, the breath mingling with the cold air and former a small puff of fog before a black nose. Pale yellow eyes seemed to cut through the gloom of the early dawn light as they gazed across the gentle slops around her. A thick black furred she-cat sat on top of a high hill, her small white paws tucked underneath her with her bushy black tail curled around her lean figure.
Her fur was slightly fluffed up against the chilly air, swishing side to side as a gentle cold breeze blew against her before sending ripples over the lush grasses of the hills. She huffed again as she raised her detached gaze to the skies, carefully examining the clouds. She could see that there was not a speck of blue among the white and gray clouds and though she could see how gentle and soft they appeared she knew that could mean troublesome times ahead for her and her clan.
She was Crowpaw… an Apprentice to Hillclan and she was able to detect the feint traces of a storm. She had no memories of her experiences with them but she knew quite a bit from what Lilac had taught her. She spotted the darker clouds off to the horizon and could scent the cool rain, she could even feel the sharp spark of tension in the air as if there was lightning caught in her fur; she marveled at her ability to sense these things yet she supposed it was no a remarkable feat… surely any cat could do this.
The young black cat then flicked her ears and let her long white whiskers tell her where the wind was coming from. She then realized that the wind was not coming from the darker clouds and she determined that the storm would more than likely not reach them. At the most they would get a bit of rain later that day, unless the wind changed.
Crowpaw huffed and curled tighter around herself. She only just got her Apprentice ceremony and she was trying to decide why she wasn’t as excited as other cats seemed to have been. Was she not grateful? Would she have rather been a loner and done without any ceremony? No… she was content with where she was and she found comfort in the convenience of the clan. Then why?
She let her gaze wonder as if searching for the answer around herself, but finding none she rose to her paws and stretched. Gently shaking out her heavy coat she turned and began a long yet peaceful walk back to the clan camp. She wondered what would await her and the day ahead. What things may happen and what things may change now that she was an apprentice?
