twenty-nine moons|| straight || warrior
as soon as you're born, they make you feel small,
by giving you no time instead of it all,
till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all...
a massive black tom with big amber eyes
The first thing any cat would notice of Mushroomtail is his size. He is truly massive, standing a head or so over the average cat. It makes him sorta awkward. His big lumbering body is hard to maneuver through other cats, and even more complicated to move through water or trees. He's just a big awkward mess. His warrior name is actually quite ironic, because he has no balance at all. Seeing Mushroomtail climb a tree would be a hilarious sight.
Besides his size, there's nothing that is too special about him. He's just a big black cat. His fur is very short and always well kept, much like his fathers. They are striking images of each other, which is ironic that his mother found him ugly. Standing next to each other it would be difficult to tell them apart, but size is the tiebreaker. When Bearfur was around, Mushroomtail still towered over him at a young age. Bearfur hated to admit it, but it was true.
Another thing, as his mother would say, is that he is ugly. His face is sorta proportional - he has huge amber eyes, small ears and tiny whiskers. It's just an odd jumble of a cat. But his eyes are truly captivating. They are big, amber and almost unavoidable. If he's looking at you, you'd definitely know. It's almost impossible to miss. But, as they say - beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so Mushroomtail is just waiting for that one she-cat who is willing to see him differently than his mom did. That is truly all he wants, despite how rude or unloving he may seem.
PERSONALITY
Mushroomtail is an emotional roller coaster to say the least. He seems to have no control over his emotions, and most importantly his anger. He just blows up on cats and loses control. He sees red. He doesn't know why nor can he stop it. As he grew older, he has began to control it a bit better but it is still a problem today. Going along with that, he in unpredictable. He just does what he wants, and if someone has a problem he will explode. Because of this, he likes to keep to himself. He doesn't tell cats his feelings or secrets, because its already pretty obvious by his actions.
But, if one could look past his bad side, you could realize he really isn't that bad. He is brave, and loyal to his Clan. He would die for them and especially his half-brother. They are his everything, though he may not always. Despite his uncontrollable side, he is actually quite confident in himself. He doesn't let cats words get to him, and pretty much does his own thing. Mushroomtail gets that from constant pressure he once received from his mother. He knew what it was like. He knows his abilities and works the best he can with them. Going with that, he is ambitious. He would never turn to evil ways to satisfy his ambition, for that is not the type of cat he is. He wants to be the best, and will always strive to be just that.
Finally, Mushroomtail is a bit of a gentle giant. Although he does have anger issues, he would never hurt a cat intentionally, unless in battle. He is aware of his size and strength, and is often embarrassed by it, even though he can be very confident of it at times. He feels bad when he fights, and sometimes holds back. This might seem like a bad trait to have for a warrior, but he cannot help it. It's just who he is. He may seem intimidating or violent, but that is not him. In reality, he is very loving and sweet, but no cat ever gets to see that side of him. He has trouble dealing with it. No cat wants to get to know him much because they're either afraid of him or think he's a total freak. But in reality, to understand the real him, you must delve deep into his heart - which he will not allow many cats to see.
HISTORY
To understand everything about young Mushroomtail and his life, we must first delve back to a time before him.. To a time of his mother and father.
Before the clans were formed, there was a beautiful and proud young couple. The male was a big black tom named Bear, and the mother was a beautiful white queen named Sunflower. (Not a clan name.. Like a literal sunflower) She was very in love with him, and wanted beautiful kits more than anything in the world. Unfortunately, she was disappointed. Greatly. Between her pregnancy, the two found Creekclan and stayed there. They didn't like it much, but put up with it. Sunflower kept her name and Bear became Bearfur.
When Sunflower finally gave birth, everyone had been expecting a beautiful litter of kits. Instead, they got Mushroomkit. An ugly, massive cat with big eyes. Sunflower was disgusted. She took one look at the cat and groaned in disgust. What was this vile thing that she had just given birth to? Why was it so ugly? How could something so ugly come from something so beautiful? Ironically. Mushroomkit looked a lot like his father. Anyways, being the terrible mother that she is, Sunflower named her son after the worst thing she could think of. A mushroom. An ugly, smelly, toxic mushroom. Sunflower refused to take ownership for the kit, and hated him with all she had. Bearfur, on the other hand, wasn't that messed up. He knew the kit was ugly, but still cared for him the same. He did what any good father would do. Bearfur became Mushroomkit's mentor and trained him to be a great warrior.
After that, Mushroompaw was surprised to find out that Sunflower was pregnant again. But this time, Bearfur wasn't the father. It was another Creekclanner named Gorsetalon. When Bearfur found out, he was enraged. He couldn't contain his hatred. So, he went crazy. One night, he invited Gorsetalon on a 'walk' with him, and attacked him there. Catching the warrior off guard, he killed him quickly, leaving the body to rot near the river. Bearfur was smart. He didn't return to Creekclan, and his whereabouts are unknown to this day. A few days after this, Mushroompaw was given his warrior name, Mushroomtail. The leader gave him an option to change his ugly name, but Mushroomtail declined. He took pride in it.
When Sunflower gave birth, Mushroomtail was surprised to see that once again she only gave birth to one kit. Another son. An odd occurrence. Yet this time, Sunflower was very pleased with her son. He was so perfect to him. He had the looks of her, the talk of her, the actions, everything. She loved him more than anything. Sunflower named him Lionkit, an animal that truly explained what and who he was. A lion.
Ironically, the leader gave the worst possible mentor to little Lionkit. Mushroomtail. Surprisingly, the two worked perfectly together. They got along, completely ignoring the fact that they were half-brothers. It didn't matter to them that their mother disliked Mushroomtail but loved Lionpaw. They were just a good match for each other. But when Sunflower found out about this, she was livid. She took it upon herself to deal with it, and took a few swipes at Mushroomtail. The large black cat barely even reacted.. But Lionpaw did. Lionpaw, being the brave little guy that he is, jumped in front of his half-brother and took the hits. It didn't hurt him much, he just needed to spend a few hours in the nursery with the medicine cat.
Sunflower, who went sorta crazy, was removed of her warrior status and sent to live with the elders. The leader also decided that she was not allowed to speak with Mushroomtail or Lionpaw until further notice. A moon or so later, Lionpaw was finally old enough to become a warrior. He was named Lionheart for his brave heroics with his half-brother. The two have remained extremely close ever since, yet a small awkward gap has remained between the two.
